Historic Foursquare c.1898

When my buyers told me that they wanted a bigger house, with a bedroom for each of their two sweet girls, and outdoor space for their big dog, and room for all to grow, and with old-school character… and wanted to stay within the same proximity of their current home, I knew I had my work cut out for me. How I love a good challenge!

This historic c.1898 Foursquare checked all the boxes, and had wonderful potential. While it will need a fair bit of work, it sits grand and tall at the top of the neighborhood hill, as though it’s keeping watch on all the going’s on. With loads of outdoor space, it’s the inside architectural details that captivate, from period mouldings, to the wide staircase with original Douglas fir treads, and coal-intended cozy fireplace in one of the upstairs bedrooms. A dining room for their family, extended family and friends to gather (and they’ll all fit!), and a kitchen meant for cooking and entertaining. The landing at the top of the stairs clearly was build for a bit of respite — curling up and reading a book (or having one read to you…).

I can’t wait to see how they turn this house into their home! It’s that ‘searching for the needle in the haystack’ then being able to see the vision of how it will work for each client I work with that brings me joy: I know I’ve helped my buyers find where they’ll grow into their next chapter in lives!

What a wonderful place to call home!
