When I first moved to the Bay area, 30 years ago, I worked for Bank of America and for the nicest manager/mentor.  I lived within walking distance of work; she commuted.  When I asked how far her commute was one day, she said she lived in Sleepy Hollow.  Funny, I hadn't seen that on an SF map, I thought.  No, indeed -- that was a neighborhood in San Anselmo, and she took the car to the ferry, then the ferry past the Golden Gate Bridge, then walked to work from the ferry (about the same distance I walked).  Every day (welcome to California commuting!).  Then I visited her house and the draw, and why someone would commute like that daily:  San Anselmo continues to be an utterly adorable town with an old-fashioned downtown, great parks and notable Marin schools.  I thoroughly enjoyed helping my clients find this lovely Spanish Mediterranean home and move to just where they wanted to raise their family.
